Rainbow DVR
Infrared Illuminators

Compact Infra-Red illuminators comprised of high efficiency LED’s, the LIR series of infrared illuminators are the ideal choice for short to midrange applications.

The inherent low power consumption of the solid state LED array results in low running costs over the life of the lamp. With an average LED life well in excess of 5 years the LIR series can provide real savings for the user in terms of maintenance and servicing costs. Tough, rugged and waterproof (IP67) with an attractive design, LIR units can be used internally and externally to dramatically improve the performance of IR sensitive CCTV cameras under night-time conditions.

Rainbow illuminators are supplied with U-bracket and internal 12V/24V power supply (an external 12V or 24V transformer is still required). Control features in the power supply include adjustable power output and photocell. The LIR Series is suitable for all low light installations up to 820 feet (250m).

IR Illuminator Information

For IR systems to operate properly, they must contain the following components:
1. IR illuminator
2. IR sensitive camera (True Day/Night)
3. Day/Night lens (IR)

Tips For Optimum Performance
1. Match the horizontal view of your lens (FOV) to the illuminator field of illumination

2. Make sure the illuminator has enough power to reach the scene. We recommend -10% from the maximum distance rating of the illuminator. The camera, lens, and scene all have characteristics that can reduce the amount of IR being detected.

3. Use a CCD based camera if possible. Standard and Mega-Pixel CMOS based cameras can experience a considerable loss of distance when used with infrared illumination. Please call us if you have any questions about your application.
